We are writing to you on behalf of HydriGrow, an entity committed to innovation in sustainable irrigation technologies for agriculture. Aware of the current climate and environmental challenges, we consider it essential to promote the development and implementation of technological solutions that optimize the use of water in agricultural production throughout the European Union. Efficient water management in agriculture is a key pillar for sector sustainability, food security and climate change mitigation. However, many start-ups and farmers face economic barriers to accessing and implementing advanced irrigation systems, such as smart sensors, automation, and water reuse systems. Therefore, we call for the creation of an agricultural sustainability fund specifically aimed at supporting innovative projects in this area.This fund would allow: 1. Facilitate access to state-of-the-art irrigation technologies for small and medium-sized farms. 2. Promote research and development in innovative solutions for the optimization of water use. 3. Fostering the transition to more resilient and sustainable agriculture, aligned with the European Green Deal and the EU’s climate objectives. 4. Promote public-private cooperation in the implementation of efficient irrigation infrastructures.
