A new European budget fit for our ambitions

A driving force behind European action

LEADER support should be maintained and remain a sub-sector of EU support for rural areas

As the manager of a LEADER LAG, I advocate that the LEADER - funding according to the buttom-up principle - should be maintained. LEADER was, however, simpler and more effective as a separate Community initiative. The current support practice in the EAFRD in accordance with the rules of the game and sanctions mechanisms for agricultural support makes participation by citizens and private initiatives increasingly difficult.
