I believe that education and education are crucial to combat hatred and discrimination in society. Programs in schools and the public that promote empathy and respectful interaction could play a major role here. From my own experience, I know how valuable local encounters are, in which people from different backgrounds interact with each other. Such encounters promote understanding and respect for each other. The EU Commission should also work more closely with social media to curb the spread of hate content and provide more support to victims of such incidents. Ultimately, a common commitment from politics, society and each individual is needed to promote a culture of respect and mindfulness and reduce hatred in the long term.
