A new European budget fit for our ambitions
A driving force behind European action
Ending Animal Testing Through EU Innovation and Activities
The EU budget should be allocated in the promotion of the full replacement of animal testing with alternative techniques, placing a high priority on sustainability, ethical innovation, and public health. Despite the ban on cosmetic animal testing, legal gaps in chemical standards such as REACH, EU Directive 2010/63/EU, lack of transparency, etc. continue to permit the use of animals. This influences public faith and contradicts EU principles. Public awareness, regulatory alignment, and the development and validation of non-animal technology should be the focus of future investment. Additionally, education campaigns to change consumer behavior, training programs for scientists and regulators, and the introduction of cruelty-free labeling throughout the EU (mandatorily) are a good activities for investing EU funds. In addition to protecting animals, funding humane science enables safer, more accurate testing techniques.
