More and more newspaper content in the EU is only available with a subscription. Readers may pay for access to one online newspaper, e.g. in Poland, but then the average citizen no longer has the means to buy access to a French newspaper. If the EU co-finances the cooperation of different newspapers, the French and Polish newspapers could create a new product, e.g. a joint Polish-French subscription, etc. In this way, the European press could reach a larger audience. Bilingual readers could improve their knowledge of the second language and have access to other news from another EU country.
