+1. The strategy on Intergenerational Fairness has to ensure that interests of present and future generations are respected in policies and laws making

+It is the responsibility of the Intergenerational Fairness Commissioner preparing a Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness to ensure that interests of present and future generations are respected throughout policy and law making.
+Future generations will suffer the climate consequences of current short-sighted public policies and individual actions that show little solidarity with their descendants.
+Climate change is not the only threat we face in the future, but in the current complex political situation, urgent actions to avoid harmful temperatures in the future may be relegated to the background, following the well-known phrase “the urgent comes before the important” and despite the fact that actions to control the temperature below 1.5°C are an emergency. The possible rearmament of Europe or any other policy taken to favor or not to hinder economic activity cannot be decided at the cost of diluting or delaying already approved decarbonization plans (Non-regression principle, that is, the obligation imposed on public institutions not to reduce environmental and social protection standards).
