Young people want to be more involved in global partnership projects

Avatar: Official contribution Official contribution

The EU’s Global Gateway is a plan to invest in sustainable and smart projects around the world – like clean energy, digital tech, and transport – while building fair and equal partnerships.

Young people said they don’t just want to be spectators on the sidelines; they want to be part of the process of making sure that these projects truly benefit to young people and locals. Among other things, they suggested creating a ‘youth marker’ to make sure that projects are both beneficial to, and take into account the voices of young people. Other suggestions included informing and engaging young people about Global Gateway in a more grassroots way. Getting young leaders involved through a youth ambassadors programme and setting up youth-led innovation hubs where young professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers can work together on projects were mentioned. Additionally, they suggested that local and regional EU delegations in the partner countries should engage with young people through local youth sounding boards, including them in decision-making processes. Any other ideas on how the Global Gateway can involve young people more to ensure that it is beneficial to them and their communities?
