A new round of discussions
Emergency preparedness should be part of our education
Young people said they want preparedness to be part of every EU citizen’s education. They suggested that the EU could encourage that preparedness training is rolled out in educational institutions and volunteer programmes across Member States, while respecting Member State’s competencies. Young people thought updating existing exchange programmes, such as Erasmus+, to include a preparedness element. Running simulations at schools could also help. Additionally, young people considered that it should be encouraged to be aware of and even have ready a 72-hour emergency grab-bag. What other steps can the EU take to prepare its citizens for times of crisis?
