Young Citizens Assembly on Pollinators

How do we reverse the decline of wild pollinating insects?

Support education about pollinators at all levels of the European Educational System

To finance, support, and promote education about pollinators as an essential part of environmental education. This education must be continuous and should start as early as kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, university, or even in the form of lifelong learning. Such scientifically popular initiatives should take the form of an active learning experience, for instance, workshops, field excursions, where the children and youths gain awareness about the vital role of the pollinators. A good example could be the beekeeping organisation Včielkovo. https://www.vcielkovo.sk/o-nas . It is a nonprofit organisation from Nitra, Slovakia. They are experienced beekeepers dedicated to the protection of bees and other pollinators. In addition, they are doing many live activities for primary and secondary school students. Moreover, they do activities that are aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle in cooperation with the local primary and secondary schools in Nitra, Slovakia. Their activities are always age-appropriate, catering for the various interests and needs of the participants. Moreover, their activities are inclusive and adapted to children with and without mobility disabilities. Initiatives like this can help young people to get more actively involved in the protection of polinators at their local communities.
