Recognized family rights in Romania for LGBTQ+ couples (married of not married)

Cristian Marian Rucsanda

My husband and myself, gay romanian couple, married and living in Malta, we are still in doubt of returning to Romania, a country that in 2024 still doesn't recognize lgbtq+ couples and especially the couples that are already married. we are willing to go back to our country and continue providing for the romanian working market our experiences gained abroad, but due to all the circumstances not always favorable in Romania for lgbtq+ couples, we still tend to avoid going back "home". We are married and seen as a family in almost all the countries in the world but our home country, Romania, still considers that my husband and myself are "strange", "sin", "not family because family means man and woman" and the list can continue. Even if the EU community suggested in repeated times to the Romanian government that also Romania must learn to respect human rights, Romania and the romanian government still consider these suggestions "outrageos" and most of the media is promoting anti-lgbtq+ news. Please make Romanian my home again. Thank you for hearing our voices too.
