A new European budget fit for our ambitions
A driving force behind European action
Better mental health support for young people in Europe
Many young people in Europe struggle with mental health problems like anxiety, stress, and depression. I believe the EU should invest more in mental health support for youth. This includes more low-threshold services that are easy to access, more school-based mental health help, and better digital support options like online chat or therapy. The EU could also support training for teachers and youth workers to better recognize and respond to mental health issues early.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Still, many young people don’t get the help they need, either because of cost, distance, or stigma. By increasing funding for youth mental health, the EU can help prevent problems early and make sure every young person feels supported. This is especially important to prioritize, as mental health plays an important role in helping young people learn, work, and participate in society in the future. If the EU makes this a priority in the next budget proposal, it could benefit all member states and society in the long run.
The EU should also help countries share good solutions, like mental health programs in schools, awareness campaigns, or free online support tools. Mental health care should be easy to find and adapted to the needs of young people today. This proposal supports a healthier and more resilient young generation across Europe.
