United Across Generations: A Vision for Europe’s Future

Avatar: Alina Bulba Alina Bulba

I envision a European Union where intergenerational solidarity is not just an ideal but a lived reality—where the wisdom of the elderly, the energy of the youth, and the experience of the working-age population come together to build a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable society. In this future EU, policies are designed not only for today’s voters but for future generations. Public spaces are designed for accessibility and interaction across age groups, education systems prioritize empathy and civic engagement, and the voices of all ages are valued in democratic processes.

To make this vision real, we must act now. First, we need to invest in intergenerational dialogue—creating platforms in schools, communities, and workplaces where people of all ages can share experiences, ideas, and challenges. Secondly, we must prioritize sustainable policies that account for the long-term effects on both people and the planet—addressing climate change, digital transformation, and economic inequality with foresight. Finally, EU institutions must ensure that young people have a seat at the table—not as tokens, but as equal partners in shaping the future.

Building a united, flourishing society means rejecting age-based divisions and embracing a culture where learning and responsibility are shared across generations. The decisions we make today must be driven by the principle of legacy—not just what we achieve now, but what we leave behind. The future of the EU depends on it.
