Un nuovo bilancio europeo all'altezza delle nostre ambizioni

Una forza trainante dell'azione europea

Establish a unified EU app for public transport across Member States

Avatar Julie Høibraaten

As an EU citizen, I have travelled across Member States for both studies and holidays. During my travels, I have found it difficult to navigate public transport system in different countries. This is because each country has its own system for public transport, with separate apps, rules and payment methods. These differences lead to confusion, and many travelers end up choosing services like Uber or Bolt instead of using buses or trains – especially when staying in the country for only a short period.

To solve this, I propose creating a unified EU public transport app that works across all member states. The app should give users permission to plan routes, buy tickets, and access information for buses, metros and trains without having to learn new systems in each country. This would make it much easier to use public transport both within and across Member States. The goal is not to replace existing national apps for public transport, but to offer an optional EU-level platform that simplifies travel for tourists, students and citizens. It would also promote more sustainable travel, since it is likely that people will choose public transport over private cars or taxi companies when they can use one simple, unified app.
