Regulation on the Use of Artificial Intelligence to Combat Social Problems and Fake News
As a European citizen, aware of the changes that technological innovation brings to our lives, I would like to bring my concern about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the attention of the European Parliament. At present, existing regulations are insufficient to address the new challenges posed by the increasingly massive and uncontrolled use of automated systems. Artificial Intelligence, although capable of bringing enormous benefits, risks aggravating existing social and economic problems if not properly regulated. In particular: - Automated production of false and misleading content contributes to the polarisation of public debate and makes it difficult for citizens to distinguish between trusted and untrusted sources. The indiscriminate use of technologies such as deepfakes compromises the reputation of individuals and institutions, often causing irreparable damage. - Excessive automation in some economic sectors risks increasing unemployment and creating social inequalities. - Automated profiling and misuse of personal data put the privacy and dignity of individuals at risk. My proposals concern greater transparency and accountability on the part of companies/institutions, greater education and communication. I would like to be able to develop and propose my ideas in a wider space and I invite the institutions to urgently consider this issue
