After 6 years working for the NGO Jane Goodall Institute in Congo I have been able to understand and observe how they effectively achieve radical change in society. At the beginning of their work, chimpanzees were despised as living beings. They were hunted to be pets or to trade with their meat. Today the citizen population respects and protects them and the majority of traffickers have become guardians of the reserve. How did they get it? Using the “Triangle Approach” method. This is a three-pronged strategy: 1. Care for the affected beings. 2. Citizen education. 3. Legislative measures. I consider that this strategy is also applicable to the problem of hatred in our society being essential to propose an approach in those same 3 points: 1. Protection and support for victims. Through a support network that helps them overcome emotional damage and leave the ecosystem where they are being damaged. 2. Citizen education. In schools from an early age but also towards adults through social and media campaigns. In this section I consider it essential to offer alternatives to companies and “haters” to modulate their energy towards new positive objectives (as in the NGO the stealth went to carers). 3. Legislation. Set clearer limits to what is and what is not freedom of expression and higher fines for platforms or media that do not meet the limits against hatred. We can make this change. Let’s go
