Truth – DigitalServiceAct (DSA) – Fakenews – Censorship

Many in the forum and in the working groups would like to take action against fake news. The President of the European Commission wants to prevent fake news. In my school days in the 1960s, we had teachers and politicians who had experienced the wartime and the Nazi dictatorship themselves: no freedom of expression, no or if prohibited freedom of information. I think I was lucky with my teachers, who advocated Voltaire and his plea for freedom of expression and active defense against the preventers, and urged Immanuel Kant to use one’s own mind courageously. Those who taught me: Believe nothing, check everything. Things that, I think, are very up-to-date again today. Martin, from the EU Commission, last spoke to us about the implementation of the DSA. Social media are forced to delete content through very high penalties. The DSA legal text is not unambiguous, which leads to problems, in addition to illegal content, also “otherly harmful information” (Article 5) should be taken into account. The aim is, inter alia, to “ensure the achievement of various political objectives...” (Article 34). These are only two points, which I think, in order to weigh the "political goals and the "harmful information" and a possible censorship for political reasons. 1/2
