A new European budget fit for our ambitions

A driving force behind European action

European funding to train young farmers and revitalise rural areas in León.

One of the main objectives of the European Union is to reduce inequalities between regions. The province of León, and in particular the rural area of Ribera del Órbigo, has suffered for years from problems such as depopulation, lack of opportunities and high youth unemployment. Supporting local hop growing and processing companies with European funding is a clear opportunity to boost the local economy, create jobs and maintain population in the territory. The hops sector, with a long tradition in the area, has a great potential for growth if it has the necessary support. In addition, this funding would enable young farmers to be trained in modern and sustainable techniques, encouraging the professionalisation of the sector. Training and innovation programs can improve production, increase the added value of the product and ensure generational renewal in the field. This type of investment is fully in line with the EU's objectives on rural development, territorial cohesion and sustainability.
