The results of the PISA study are a clear signal: We need to act urgently in Europe to improve our education systems. The OECD average is 488 points, with girls doing slightly better than boys. But what really stands out is the tip: Estonia with an impressive 526 points, closely followed by Japan and Korea. What can we learn from this? These results show that it is possible to achieve excellent education. We should take Estonia as an example and analyse what makes it so successful. Concrete actions for the EU budget * Research and innovation: * We need to invest in research and innovation in education. How can we meaningfully integrate digital technologies into teaching? How can we promote individualized learning? * Teacher training and development: Well-trained and motivated teachers are at the heart of any education system. We need to invest in their education and training. * Exchange programmes: * Programmes such as Erasmus+ are invaluable. We should continue to expand them and encourage the exchange of pupils, students and teachers. * Digital infrastructure: * A modern digital infrastructure is essential for modern education. We need to ensure that all schools and educational institutions have access to fast internet and modern technology.
