Intergenerational Groupings
As we already know, society in Europe is ageing and will need to adapt. The problem is also that children and young people are no longer inspired by older people, but by their peers, preferably through social networks. Of course, most of them do not know how to separate grain from weeds and there are long-term negative consequences, which in most cases are never remedied in their lives. For this reason, I propose that the European Commission pay attention in its policies to enabling the construction of intergenerational centres in local communities, the renovation of decaying buildings in state and municipal ownership for the needs of intergenerational social life, as well as the possibility of arranging private houses in order to transform them into intergenerational buildings according to the wishes of individuals. Intergenerational communities would also address the problem of day care for younger and older people who, for various reasons, cannot afford institutional care. Everything should be arranged in such a way that it is carried out under the professional supervision of the competent services. This would solve several problems at the same time. All the advantages I mentioned also have a scientific basis, they should be supported by the European Commission and consequently implemented in the local communities of EU countries.
