I believe that the EU should promote - by allocating its own funds for this purpose and stimulating the collaboration of European states and universities - research and innovation in the field of information technology and technology, also in order to free itself from the monopoly of American Big Tech. At the global level, the US and China are literally racing in these sectors and investing (or promoting investment) in them massively. If Europe does not do the same (and can only do so as a whole, given that individual states alone do not have the strength!) there is a real risk of losing economic strength and competitiveness.
