A new European budget fit for our ambitions
A driving force behind European action
Schools should be able to guarantee a safe and quality education
Young people are crucial for Europe's future. They have a right to an education that suits their talents and abilities. In Germany, tens of thousands of young people leave school without a school leaving certificate every year. This not only has a serious negative impact on young people's professional opportunities, but is also a waste of potential for the state. Most school classes have too many pupils, so that sufficient care and support of individual pupils is hardly possible. Many schools have too few teaching staff, school hours are regularly cancelled. In addition, many schools have problems with violence and bullying that the schools are not up to. Europe should therefore invest in the education of the next generation: - Smaller classes and more teaching staff - thus the support of individual pupils is much better possible - pupils with learning difficulties should be specifically supported, e.g. with student sponsorships and targeted tutoring - violence and bullying must not be tolerated in schools. Schools need to address these issues in a more targeted and determined way.
