Proposal to improve the transparency of EU digital marketing

Avatar: cristina alonso garcia cristina alonso garcia

In the digital age, marketing strategies have evolved rapidly, and with them, the collection and use of personal data. Although the EU has established regulations such as the GDPR, many consumers still do not understand how their data is used in marketing campaigns and content personalization. I propose the creation of a transparency platform in digital marketing within the European Union, where registered companies explain in a clear and simple way how they collect, process and use consumer data. This platform could include: • A "digital consumer passport", where users can visualise what data they have shared with each company and modify their consent in real time. • An advertising transparency seal for companies that comply with good practices in segmentation and data privacy. • A system of complaints and audits to detect possible abuses or malpractices in the use of data for marketing. This initiative would not only strengthen consumer confidence, but also incentivize companies to adopt more ethical practices in their digital marketing approach.
