A new European budget fit for our ambitions

A driving force behind European action

Dedicate more financial resources to civic awareness and engagement at European level

Avatar: Peter Bozakov Peter Bozakov

The post-2027 financial strategy must take into account the need to cultivate more active citizenship in European political processes. In this sense, the budget should allocate more resources to engage Europeans from all corners and backgrounds of the Union in the future of European legislation. Financial resources of considerable scale will be needed to ensure active and long-lasting citizens' debates on socially significant topics at European, national and regional level. This will make it possible to recruit more staff and expertise and reach a far larger segment of the populations of the Member States in search of solutions that will shape our common future. The processes triggered by the Conference on the Future of Europe already set new standards for civic engagement in the EU, but only a more ambitious financial framework can ensure their success on the scale that Europe needs and deserves.
