A driving force behind European action
Improvement of transport infrastructure in the biomedical field.
From the project CryoFuture S.L. several ideas are proposed to improve how transport infrastructures (air, train and road) are financed. One option would be to use European funds such as Horizon Europe or the Connecting Europe programme to finance major projects, for example transport routes for products that need to be kept cold, such as biomaterials. CryoFuture could work alongside transport companies to ensure that the cold chain is guaranteed throughout the process. Partnerships could also be created between the public and the private, where companies such as CryoFuture help pay for infrastructure, such as airports with specialized cold zones, and in return receive tax benefits or certain privileges of use. Another way to get financing would be through green bonds, which are instruments that raise money for sustainable projects. Some of that money could be used to electrify trains or build greener roads, for example, with cooling running on green hydrogen, something that fits CryoFuture's goals of reducing emissions. It is also suggested that all EU-funded projects should publish annual reports on their environmental and social impact. This would give more transparency and could attract investors. At regional level, it is proposed to use cohesion funds (such as ERDF) to better connect areas such as León with European logistics hubs.
