Especially in Central and Eastern European parts, there is a growing divide between what is demanded by the younger compared to older demographics.
This does not simply exhaust itself in the older ones' reliance on some type of pension-related policy but goes as far as the overall vision of their nation’s future.
Increasingly this vision has been shifting apart from the younger generation’s vision, due to undefinable concepts, especially: "The Protection of Cultural and Family Values, and Sovereignty."
More Conservative Governments can convincingly use these arguments to retain voting majority with the help of the older demographics, while forcing off - or delaying - the nation’s ideal progressive path in policymaking, public institution reforms, and tax-redistribution.
In my understanding, one of the main reasons stems from the older demographics not feeling like actual EU citizens. They have very little or very outdated understanding of the Union, they see it as purely transactional.
This contrasts with the younger ones' vision, which sees endless opportunities and important values that come with being an EU citizen.
My fix would be to recommend pushing simplified EU literature (values, outlook, functioning, pros of implemented policies) specifically targeting the 50+ demographic.
With the proper utilization of NGOs, Websites, Advertisements, I believe there should be a way to break through the barrier that is now surrounding the older generations.
