The Cyprus Third Age Observatory (CTAO) engaged with the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth to establish a strong collaboration to unite generations and actively combat ageism. During the meeting, CTAO delivered the following document:

The document highlights ageism as a pervasive issue affecting all age groups, particularly older people, through stereotypes and discrimination that harm social cohesion and well-being.

The proposal emphasizes the crucial role of education in tackling ageism from early childhood by integrating age-awareness modules into school curricula, training teachers, and promoting intergenerational learning through mentoring and joint projects. It also advocates revising educational materials to remove ageist content and encourage positive representations of ageing.

Beyond schools, the document outlines national public awareness campaigns, legal reforms to strengthen anti-discrimination laws, and community-based intergenerational initiatives. Technology—such as digital literacy programs for seniors and online platforms fostering intergenerational collaboration—is central to bridging generational divides.

The proposal includes robust evaluation and feedback mechanisms to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement, aiming to build a society of respect, inclusivity, and solidarity across all ages.
