Space is becoming essential for Europe’s security and defence. Space technologies help secure communications, monitor the Earth and environment, provide autonomous positioning, and safeguard critical infrastructure.  

With the upcoming European Space Shield set to launch in 2026, an initiative designed to strengthen defence capabilities and secure Europe’s space assets, involving young people and universities could be crucial, as they bring fresh ideas, innovation, skills and expertise.
