A new round of discussions
Supporting young entrepreneurs and European businesses
Young entrepreneurs emphasise that the embrace of digital transformation and AI, the processing and transfer of personal data, and product certification are critical to their business models, but current rules can be complex and time-consuming. They call for simpler regulatory processes, faster guidance on exporting rules, and greater mutual recognition agreements.
In addition, young people argue that the EU must encourage risk-taking and mobilise private investment more effectively. They also recommend increasing R&D funding in key sectors like defence, tech, and health, improving how capital is allocated for innovation and making public administration digital-first so businesses interact online by default and submit their data only once.
With the EU focusing on unleashing the full potential of the Single Market by 2028 through various upcoming initiatives like the establishment of a European Innovation Act expected in 2026, these suggestions are very relevant.
How can the EU best balance regulation, innovation, and ease of doing business to support the next generation of innovators?
