Education and Awareness: Building Safer Digital Spaces from the Classroom Up

Avatar: Official contribution Official contribution

Young people strongly emphasised the need to embed digital literacy and cyberbullying awareness into school curricula across Europe. They pointed out that teachers often lack training and resources, while many students may not recognise bullying or know where to seek help. Parents were recognised as critical but hard-to-reach stakeholders in this effort.

Participants called for structured teacher training that includes wellbeing, cyberbullying awareness, digital literacy, empathy, and life skills — with early integration during Initial Education and Training (IET). They also stressed that schools should offer safe places and real support where students feel confident reporting incidents and asking for help.

How can schools, teachers, and parents work together to make digital safety feel as normal and supported as everyday learning?
