Building healthier habits in the digital world
To help young people build better screen-time habits, participants suggested practical tools such as a “cool-down” feature that limits engagement after long periods of scrolling, or a reward system to encourage more mindful use of social media. They also proposed adding a short quiz or reflection survey before buying things online - a way to help users think twice before clicking “buy” and promote more conscious consumption. Participants stressed the importance of involving parents and educators: many adults still struggle to understand the online spaces young people spend time in. Helping parents get up to speed could make digital spaces safer and more supportive for everyone.
What existing and non-existing digital tools and what ideas could help young people and their parents build healthier social media habits ?
