Making Student Housing Fair and Accessible Across Europe

Avatar: Official contribution Official contribution

Young people said that finding affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges for students and young workers today. They called on the EU and national governments to step up — with better rules, housing subsidies, and funding to help universities build more student accommodations.

They also asked for support for those studying abroad and for apprenticeships to be recognised and supported. For them, housing isn’t just about having a place to sleep — it’s about having the chance to learn, grow, and live independently.

As Europe’s cities grow and expand, young people stressed the need for long-term strategies that make sure housing and jobs stay fair and accessible for everyone, no matter where they live or study.

How can the EU make housing more affordable for students and young people starting their careers?
