Young Citizens Assembly on Pollinators
How do we reverse the decline of wild pollinating insects?
We need the "pollinator turbo" - away with the bureaucracy, here with the green!
There are already many good ideas and EU funding pots to save our wild pollinators. But the reality often looks like this: Committed school groups that want to create beds, or municipalities that want to green bus stops, fail because of a jungle of applications and confusing programs. Good ideas must not die of paperwork! I therefore propose that the EU radically simplify access to these funds. We need a central EU Pollinator Funding Hub, a digital platform that bundles all funding programmes instead of hiding them in LIFE, Horizon or Youth Funds. There must be an active advertising campaign so that every community and every school learns at all what resources are available. In addition, I call for a digital fast-track procedure: For standard projects such as green bus stop roofs or school biotopes, a short, digital application must be sufficient, which will be approved unbureaucratically within a few weeks. If we want to stop species extinction, support must reach where it is needed: Directly with us on site, in our streets and in our schoolyards. Let's let the pollinators fly instead of keeping them in file folders!
