Young Citizens Assembly on Pollinators

How do we reverse the decline of wild pollinating insects?

Eljub dialogue: A Peer Parliament of young people from Europe on food and biodiversity

As part of the eljub Dialogue 2025 in Belgium (19-21 March 2025, in the Erasmus+ Youth Participation Activities programme), young people from several European countries also participated in a peer parliament on Youth Goal 10 ‘A sustainable green Europe’. The young people had previously taken a guided tour of the renaturation project L’Arbre Qui Pousse (BE) for the Peer Parliament and had experienced a workshop on ‘A sustainable green Europe’. In groups, the young people worked out proposals on the central topic of the Peer Parliament. The questions were: • What would make people in Europe live more environmentally friendly and choose regional agricultural and organic products when buying food (instead of cheap, non-resource-efficient mass-produced goods)? Proposal 1: Climate festivals, climate events - Europe-wide mandatory information on climate change, the biodiversity crisis and waste separation in cities and municipalities (especially for older people, to be implemented from 2026). Proposal 2: Proposal 2: Tax bonus for environmental pioneers – citizens living in sustainably structured communities such as L’Arbre qui Pousse (BE) will have to pay less tax to feel stimulated and supported. Proposal 3: Support and reduce prices for regional products from organic farms – this should encourage people to buy these products. More about eljub: https://www.eljub.eu
