Mainstreaming domestic violence against men in a comprehensive and inclusive approach to gender equality
Combating domestic violence is a key priority for gender equality policies in Europe and around the world. Women are now the main victims, which fully justifies targeted and ambitious public policies. However, a comprehensive and effective approach to domestic violence also requires the recognition of all victims, including men who are victims of domestic violence, whose reality is still insufficiently visible and taken into account. With this in mind, the European Commission's future action plan offers a strategic opportunity to promote an inclusive, human rights-based approach that ensures adequate protection for all victims.
