Intergenerational Fairness

Ideas and proposals for the intergenerational equity development project
To build a fair society between generations, it is essential to actively involve young people in the life of the community alongside the experience of the elderly. I propose a set of coordinated actions that combine civic education, sport, volunteering and collaboration between different ages. Establish in a stable way the Municipal Council of Children, so that young people can participate in decision-making processes and approach local governance, including rights, duties and civic responsibilities. Strengthen the Week of Sport in schools, making it an event full of meetings with athletes and testimonials who tell commitment, resilience and sacrifice as tools for personal and social growth. Promote the involvement of young people in local associations, in particular those with social aims, so as to create new opportunities for solidarity and participation. Activate intergenerational projects dedicated to the care and maintenance of urban decorum, where children and the elderly collaborate together in small manual jobs, exchanging skills, visions and values. Finally, promote the participation of young people in the activities of older people’s centres, such as Auser, in order to strengthen social cohesion and mutual respect between generations. We want a community in which young people are not only spectators, but protagonists of the present and guardians of the future.
